We began Kyudo training in 2021. Club Nezu Kai was founded in 2024. Our Club is part of the Estonian Kyudo Federation (in Estonian: Eesti Kyudo Liit or EKYL ) and is the leading Kyudo club in Estonia. We train regularly, host competitions and participate in international seminars. The Estonian Kyudo Federation is a member of the European Kyudo Federation.
Nezu Kai translates as “Club of the Temple Juniper”.

Kyudo is a completely new martial art for Estonia, and our journey began literally from nothing—without a teacher, equipment, or a dedicated training space. For a time, we practiced in an abandoned schoolyard, learning through online lessons and finding immense joy in the arrival of our very first set of gear: a bow, arrows, a quiver, a string, and spare nocks.
Through patience and dedication, our skills gradually sharpened, eventually leading us to the sanctuary of an indoor dojo. Today, our training conditions are near ideal, and several of our members have already attained the rank of black belt. We continue to train rigorously, participating in international seminars and gaining recognition within the global community. These milestones are not just personal victories—they are vital moments in the history and evolution of Kyudo in Estonia.
